About the Band

The idea of forming the band came to Vasyl Marushchak (Kretskyi) - at the beginning of 2008, he happened to visit a rehearsal of some Ivano-Frankivsk local young band playing punk rock.

At the same rehearsal, there was a decision to create a new band that would stand out among the others and he decided on the music style such as ethno-folk-rock.  Later guys began thinking about the band name and their image.  Moreover, the name TSVIT KULBABY (Dandelion Flowers) appeared spontaneously “in a dream on 1 April”, since the guys wanted to have an interesting, positive, energetic name which could draw attention to the ethno-folk so they decided on this name.

At that time, the members of the band were as follows: Vasyl Marushchak (Kretskyi) (vocal, guitar, lyrics),  Ihor Melnyk (back vocal, button accordion),  Oleh Berezhanskyi (bass guitar) and Andrii Pypchak (drums).

The band membership was somewhat changed at the end of 2008. Roman Batiuk (bass guitar) and Andrii Zvarychuk (Abat)  (drums),  more professional musicians, joined the band. Since that time, the band has remained a solid strong team. The guys started working on their first songs: “Kateryna”, “Vinochok” (Wreath), “Zozulka” (Little Cuckoo).

In 2009 on the Day of Youth, TSVIT KULBABY had its first live performance in the square near the city lake. Musicians vigorously played such songs as   “Kateryna”, “Vinochok”, “Zozulka”. The audience of Ivano-Frankivsk city cheered up them very warmly.

of modern and pop-music, and became a winner in the genre of rock music with the song “Kateryna”, At the end of 2009, TSVIT KULBABY took part in Chervona Ruta, the all-Ukrainian festival which went into the rotation on the radio stations. Later the band recorded several songs such as “Vinochok”, “Zozulka”, which also were rotated on the radio. The victory significantly inspirited the musicians to write and work on the new songs.  By the way, that year the band firstly performed abroad, in Rzeszów (Poland).

The year of 2010 became more creative for the band. Not only the new songs were written, but also the band gave concerts for the Ukrainian fans as well as for the Diaspora in Poland.

In 2011, the rock band recorded the song named “Ryzha” (Ginger girl) which became popular not only in Ukraine but also abroad. In the same year, the band played at the festivals EKolomyja in Górowo Iławeckie (Poland), at the festival of Ukrainian Days in the city of Pasłęk (Poland) and it was also invited by the Ukrainian ambassador to perform in Chisinau, Moldova.

In 2012, the rock-band recorded “Ryzha”, the debut CD album that was released by UKRMusic in Kyiv. The album with best twelve tracks was presented on the New Chanel in Wake up Morning Show.  In the same year, the band made and presented the first video for “Ryzha” song.

In 2013, the rock-band made the new video for “Kateryna” song and they also worked hard on the tracks of “Korolieva” (Queen), “Khulihanka” (Bad Girl), “Sino” (Hay) “Bilyi Kamin”  (White Stone).

In 2014, the rock-band took part in such festivals as “Kraiina Mriyi” (Country of Dreams) in Kyiv, Bytowska Watra in Bytow, Poland and others.

In 2015, the rock-band along with FDR updated “Korolieva” song (women as women) and started its rotation on all radio station in Ukraine. The song suddenly broke all records and gained popularity.  In the same year, the band made video for “Korolieva” song and visited the Ukrainian festival in Montreal at the invitation of the Canadian organizers as well as had the solo concert in Toronto, Canada. Having returned from Canada, the band went to Lemkiwska Watra festival in Zdynia, Poland.

In 2016, the band has continued cooperating with FDR and updated “Khulihanka” “Ryzha” songs. This year the band has also performed for the Diaspora at the "Ukrainian days in Szczecin" festival.

TSVIT KULBABY is successfully working and making their fans happy at their concerts.
